Inter Miami win 4th straight game at home

Rodolfo Pizarro scored two goals, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez had two assists and Inter Miami beat Toronto FC 3-1 on Saturday night.

Miami (6-9-4) extended its record home winning streak to four, winning by more than one goal at home for the first time in the franchise’s two-year history.

Robbie Robinson also scored for Miami. Nick Marsman lost his shutout on an own goal, a poor header by Kieran Gibbs on a long free kick into the box in the 62nd minute.

When Pizarro scored after a deft touch with a low shot into the left corner in the 15th minute it marked the 17th straight game that Toronto allowed a goal, tying the team record for consecutive games without a clean sheet. Gonzalo Higuain got the assist after Gibbs made a sliding steal that put the ball on Higuain’s foot.

A steal and a long pass by Gonzalez Pirez found Robinson down the left side in the 35th minute. Robinson beat a defender just inside the box and in tight quarters slipped a left footer inside the post.

Gonzalez Pirez set up Pizarro’s second goal, his third of the season after he scored Miami’s winner Wednesday, early in the second half. Gonzalez Pirez sent a long ball about half the pitch and a streaking Pizarro chipped it over Quentin Westberg from about the top of the box.

Inter Miami CF win in injury time

Rodolfo Pizarro scored the winning goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to give Inter Miami CF a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night at Fort Lauderdale.

Indiana Vassilev and Robbie Robinson also scored goals for Inter Miami (5-9-4, 19 points). Gonzalo Higuain had two assists as Inter Miami improved to 3-1-2 over their last six matches.

Luka Stojanovic had one goal and one assist for Chicago, which remains winless (0-6-1) on the road this season.

Francisco Calvo also scored for the Fire, who have been outscored 17-5 on the road this season. Chicago had a four-game overall unbeaten stretch (2-0-2) halted.

Higuain was a key figure in Miami's winning goal as he found Victor Ulloa, who then fed Pizarro the ball. Pizzaro sent a hard right-foot shot to the left of Fire goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth into the right corner of the goal.

Miami had a 12-8 edge in shots and placed four on target to Chicago's three.

Shuttleworth and Miami counterpart Nick Marsman had each made one save.

Chicago took a 2-1 lead just three minutes into the second half. Stanislav Ivanov threaded a pass to a wide-open Stojanovic, who sent a straight-on right-footed shot into the upper left corner of the net.

Miami tied the game in the 62nd minute as Higuain delivered a crisp pass to Robinson. The No. 1 overall pick in 2020 then sent a right-footed shot into the top right corner of the net.

Inter Miami CF lose 2-0 against New York

Inter Miami's trip to NY ended in a defeat as they lost to a clinical NY side earlier this evening.

Miami nearly opened the scoring in the 12th minute, however Lewis Morgan's left-footed shot from outside the box was denied by Johnson.

NYCFC then scored after Moralez's left-footed cross found Castellanos, who provided the finish with a header that sailed inside the right post past a helpless Marsman.

NYCFC doubled the advantage just before halftime, with an unintentional assist coming after a hand ball in the penalty area from Inter Miami's Kelvin Leerdam. Castellanos made Miami pay for its miscue after chipping a right-footed shot past a diving Marsman.

Castellanos' bid for the hat trick was denied in the 74th minute, with Marsman making the save on his header from the center of the box.

Inter Miami's next game is this coming Wednesday as they face Chicago at home 7.30pm K.O.
